I know it seems otherwise, but I do more than just piano. Me and Fiona are very good friends and we have done a duet before so I am comfortable doing a piano piece with her. This from our piano recital, yesterday.
Swan Lake Duet May 16, 2011
A couple of days ago, me and my friend Fiona had to perform a duet for piano recital. Our teacher picked Swan Lake. It was hard for me, because we didn’t practice with each much. Instead I practiced with Ms. Jasna (our teacher).
When she played it for me the first time, it sounded familiar. I recognized it from the ballet that we saw back in the winter. Me and Fiona did get to practice a little bit – the first time it was kinda funny, because I was used to having Ms. Jasna there. Here’s one of our practices, at my house, just a few hours before the recital.
Meeting a Mule April 17, 2011
This morning I went to my mom’s friend’s barn and there was a three-week-old molly mule .
Her name was Stormy. She was not much bigger than my dog, Tyrone. Her mane was fluffy and short. She was super sweet and nibbled my arm like a dog.
There was also a horse there that I rode. He was huge and all white but very dirty. I rode him bare-back; he was kinda lazy. He stumbled over a jump, and we were only walking.
It was a lot of fun.
Swan Lake January 17, 2011
Last week, I went to see a performance of Swan Lake with my family. It was really great.
What surprised was that I didn’t know was that there was a bad spirit in the story – Von Rothbart. I always love the costumes and I like how they made their own happy ending, instead of the Prince and Odette dying together. One of my favorite characters was the Jester, part of the King’s court.
But my most favorite was the movement by the dancers, by both arms and legs. I noticed that the toe parts of their shoes had a flat part on it. so that they could keep their balance.
There was one thing I didn’t get: why Rothbart put a spell on the swans. Maybe he was in love with Odette, and he was trying to stop the Prince. Otherwise I understood the whole thing and I loved it. And I know it took lots of practice.

Carnival at the Tuileries June 28, 2010
Yesterday, Dimanche (Sunday), we went to the Tuileries park. It was hot but right when we got there, I saw a big ferris wheel! They had a carnival set up for the day, so we went in. Ellis wanted to go up in the ‘air spin’ ride. I said, “No way,” so he went up by himself and loved it. Then I saw a roller coaster that went through the water like they have at six flags, so we went on that, me and ellis. it looked a little scary but we got cooled off, and there was this really big hill that went down and it went super fast. That’s when I got really scared. But when we went down, if felt kinda good because we had a big splash.
They also had a big haunted fun house. We definitely went in there – it looks fun from the outside, but inside… there was moving stairs, a big hamster wheel that was moving already before you even went on it; that was hard and I got bruised. They had a great slide; screaming machines went off when you walked on something, right in your ear; and there was clowns up on the walls and it got dark, then it was light and you saw the clowns. It was really fun.
Les Halles June 22, 2010
(lay-al)
Most everyday we go to a park near an area called Les Halles. There are two small parks we usually go to; one is medium-sized and you have to be there at a certain time to get in, at 2 o’clock sharp, and it’s only for kids, no parents are allowed. They open the door only for a second or two, so you have to be ready. The second park is one that’s open all day, and it’s really good for climbing. Les Halles is also a kind underground shopping mall, underneath these parks. In this picture, the mall is directly behind and below us. It’s only five minutes from out apartment.
Father’s Day June 20, 2010
Today we went to Sacre Coeur, a beautiful and big church on a big hill in Paris. To get to the church you could choose to walk up a million steps or to take a funiclaire (a tram), which is what we chose to get to the top. The view was beautiful. You could see a panoramic (my mom told me that word) view of the city. We were walking around the church and took this picture.
Today was special because it was father’s day and because daddy was with us. Most days while we are out he is working on a new novel.
Helping Mom June 19, 2010
Recently, my brother, mom, and I have been scouting the flea markets of Paris for a project my mom is doing. Today we went to one that contained a lot of antiques and furniture. We saw some really cool dolls, jewelry, and busts. I saw this really awesome teddy bear that I loved and wanted for my birthday. We also saw this bronze horse bust. At the end, we got a delicious chocolate crepe. I forgot to mention that we got some really cool sets of playing cards. One was from Russia.
the PALACE!!!! (Versailles) June 15, 2010
Today we went to king Louis IV’s palace and gardens. I didn’t go in the palace because there was too big of a line but I did see his garden. There are so many things, water shows, sculptures, and flowers. In front of the palace, there was a gate covered in gold!
